Winter Break is Here!

Horray! Winter break is here, and along with it comes all the Christmas cards, carols, and blog posts! :) It's good to have enough time to get back to writing and blogging again, and I'll get back to my usual antics for the break, and get crackin on good books! Mind you, I've had basically no time, whizzing from test to test to quiz to test, that I've fallen behind on my reading list. So bear with me for a bit as I get myself back on track.

Last but not least,
....or Kwanzaa or Hakuna, or which ever you celebrate. :)

Wishing you a great holiday season,
Ivy

Hi everyone!

You may have noticed the advertisements up around my blog! I'm sorry if they are a hindrance to your reading and enjoyment of the blog, but I just wanted to test this whole advertising out. Please bear with me!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hello everyone! I'm back- winter break has just started! And to start off, I decided to review one of my very favourite books- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Also the author for Looking for Alaska, John Green is an amazing writer. He is also the author of many other books, including An Abundance Of Katherines, Paper Towns, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I loved all his books and suggest you to read them very much!

The Fault in Our Stars is a heartbreaking novel of two teens with cancer, that will make you want to die of laughter and sob at the same time. This book is probably my favourite of all the books John Green has wrote, and that's saying a lot- his books are all so amazing. A raw, energizing novel, it brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love. And Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters are hopelessly in love. Featuring the Literal Heart of Jesus, a lonely swing set, and a writer with no heart, John Green wrote a straight forward yet touching tale that everyone should enjoy and love!

I recommend this book to young adult readers. It's a hilarious book that everyone will cry over. By the end of the book, I was sobbing. Be sure to read this book before the movie comes out in the summer! It is amazingly written and beautifully crafted, after all. He may write to the young adults, and yet he writes for all the kids- the ones with over-protective mothers and fathers, and especially the ones who are suffering from cancer. He speaks to all the doctors and nurses in the universe, and also to the patients in the hospitals.

"Qualities of a Good Nurse: Go," I said.
"1. Doesn't pun on your disability," Isaac said.
"2. Gets blood on the first try," I said.
"Seriously, that is huge. I mean is this my freaking arm or a dartboard? 3. No condescending voice."
"How are you doing, sweetie?" I asked, cloying. "I'm going to stick you with a needle now. There might be a little ouchie."

Seriously... this book will make you die from laughter.

***I give this book a 10 out of 10! I LOVED IT!!!***

What?! Back to School ALREADY?!

So, summer's gone by pretty darn quickly this year! With a woosh, it's gone like the wind already! And school's waiting on the students, looming like a black dementor to suck out our souls making them busy with back to school things, and parents trying to help their child get ready for the next grade. Oh, and my cousin and aunt left for Korea, and now she's back in school too. None the less, I'll be going on to grade 9 now, and seeing that... Well, I'll be one busy camper. I won't be able to blog as much, and not be able to take the time out of my busy schedule to update that often... So thank you for the people who kept reading the book reviews and stuff that I updated, and please keep in tune to this blog- I won't be updating as frequently, but I will be able to get one or two up once and a while! Have a good school year, everyone, and I hope you all the luck!

Lots of love,
Ivy.

Bonjour Vancouver!

Hi! I know that it has been an awfully long time since I last had a blog post, so I'm really really really sorry. I just came back from Europe- had a really nice time. I visited Europe: England, France, and Germany. To be more specific, I went to London, Paris, and Koln (Cologne). London was fantastic- it was a bit crowded, but I found that the city was really old. That doesn't mean that it was filthy and things crumbling to dust. It's just to say that the buildings had quite a bit of history in them. Paris, as well, was really crowded. Yet all the buildings were so architecturally nice beautiful perfect. The people had decorated the houses, adorned the houses with such beauty that it was breathtaking. There was a fair amount of smog, but it was understandable with the large quantity of cars around. In Koln, we found that it was small, peaceful, but old all the same. These three cities were always modifying to modern civilization, which I found amazing.
