Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass

This book has two stories in one: Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There. Yes, they are two different stories, but both featuring Alice. Alice in Wonderland is the one most are familiar with- complete with the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, the Red Queen of Hearts, and the White Rabbit, and all those characters we have come to love. Then there are Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Humpty Dumpty, and the Jabberwocky from Through the Looking Glass Louis Carol wrote two books worth the love of everyone.

'I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye, I'm late I'm late, I'm late!'
-White Rabbit

Don't be late to read this book! Louis Carol wrote an enticing story of a girl in an insane, bizarre, quite mad place, with many things that happen in which would never happen in real life! He created another parallel universe- one where all sorts of creations can speak: from flowers to packs of cards to insects to packs of cards, wouldn't it be quite a noisy world if all these seemingly inanimate objects were to start talking? And most of all, the fact that there are quite the more chatterboxes in Wonderland....... Some things were just meant not to talk! Especially caterpillars smoking through a hookah. And don't take advice from caterpillars. Hopefully Alice has learnt that lesson!

Alice is a normal girl who has been dropped into Wonderland. In both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, Alice is quite perplexed in finding herself in a world so different and odd. You would be too, in her shoes. In a world where everyone turns everything into riddles, close to everything can speak, and many strange creatures rule the land, Alice struggles to find her way home. Both an adventure story, but comical all the same, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass will not fail to entertain many and all. I definitely loved reading these two books, and I recommend it to people ages 10 and above!

The thing about Through The Looking Glass, is that Alice seems less innocent, and more grown up. This changes the story line a bit, and I do think I preferred Alice in Wonderland to Through the Looking Glass.

***I give Alice in Wonderland a 9.89 out of 10! It is truly a must-read and a to-be-classic! I give Through the Looking Glass a 9.5 out of 10!***

Zoobreak

As another book by Gordon Korman, Zoobreak is yet to be another great read for kids and teens. I do not think I have met more hilarious a writer before! As the author of countless numbers of amazing books, I am entertained by every one of them!

Zoobreak is a hilarious story of a few friends, an evil zookeeper, and a bunch of loose animals. 'Zoobreak: the release of some animals from the inside of a zoo, sometimes illegal, always dangerous...' So says the back of the book. With the start of a very precious monkey by the name of Cleopatra being stolen, Zoobreak starts will the thrill of action. Savannah, Ben, Griffin, and Savannah's dog, Luthor, are determined to find her. But what if this mystery leads them into trouble? Into a zoo? Into some serious zoobreaking.

To introduce the three main characters:

Savannah is an animal lover and an animal expert. Known to her classmates as a complete animal nerd, when it comes to animals, Savannah is the one to go to. She took in a dog named Luthor, and and money called Cleopatra, Cleo for short, she gets very attached to them. Not to mention the few dozen other pets she took in. And so begins the story of Savannah and her friends trying to get back Cleo.

Griffin is called 'The Man With the Plan'. Known for getting things done, he's a great friend of Savannah's, and wishes to help her get Cleopatra back. However, when faced with court, adults, and an evil zookeeper, he is unsure of how he should make a plan to make things right for them.

Ben has a problem. He has times when he randomly falls asleep. Whether that is in the middle of class, or at home, it doesn't matter. He sleeps for 15 minutes, wakes up, and acts like nothing happens. But it's not a good thing for Ben, nor is it something his parent's are deciding to ignore. This may be the last chance Ben gets to get into something big with Griffin before he is shipped off to boarding school. Well, that's Griffin's reasoning, anyway.

These three have worked together before, as well as a three other kids, to crack a certain case of a Babe Ruth baseball card. The three being a computer whiz, an actor, and an expert climber. They come together again to save Cleo. Will they succeed?

Gordon Korman writes an amazing book kids of all ages will enjoy. I recommend this to kids that love adventure stories. Ages 6-10.

The only flaw would be that the kids are way too perfect. Good morals, and even better skills. This would never happen in real life. Would it?

***I give this book a 8.9 out of 10. Totally comical!***

Hurricane Gold

This golden book is definitely one of the most flashiest, gold, bright, and eye-catching book I have ever seen.  Even the edges of the pages are even glittering gold!

Charlie Higson wrote about three children by the names of James Bond, Precious, and Jack Junior, otherwise known as JJ. Precious, acting as snooty and stuck up as ever, doesn't make the best impression on James. But James is stuck at the Stones' house with Precious and Jack. He decides he has to do the best he can. However, when disaster strikes, he notices that his and Precious' and Jack's lives may change forever. For the better, or for the worse.

Hurricane Gold is one of the best adventure books I have ever read, and that's saying a lot. I love this book because of the amazing plot twists, and the character development within the story. The character development shows the fact that even people may not be who they say they are, and how they act like. It shows how people have the power to change. Amongst all the death and gore and violence of this adventure, book, I like how there is a lot of comic relief, and it really helps the book not get too serious and drearily violent. Once you start to read this fast-paced adventure story, you will not be able to put it down.

I recommend this book to teenagers all from the ages of 11 above. It is a gripping adventure story that will have you sitting at the edge of the chair. Beautifully written, it does have quite a lot of violence and coarse language, but the plot itself and the writing are both precise and perfected. Charlie Higson is truly and amazing writer, who writes enthralling adventure stories with twisting plot lines and beautifully developed characters. Hurricane Gold is one adventure story teenagers absolutely need to read.

*** I give this book a 9.9 out of 10!!!!!!! Positively amazing!***
