Countdown

5, 4, 3, 2, 1! That's how the people expect the world to end- being blown into bits and pieces. Franny Chapman's family isn't doing so well. She's a girl with a runaway sister, a saintly brother, an overworked mother, an army officer for a father, and her uncle- well, let's say that he's not exactly sane. It only makes it worse that her best friend has turned on her and is now cooing over her crush. Yet that is the only problem with her friends and family. The outside world is getting bombed- literally. At school, they forever practice the 'duck and cover' technique. Will Franny be able to keep her world together? Or will the bombs rip it apart? Follow Franny through the exciting ways through ours and her history. Will she make it?

*** Overall, the book was really good, but there were a bit too many 'ads' in between. I give this book a 8 out of 10!***

XTRA XTRA!

One of my favourite poems in the book:

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Words in the Dust

http://www.arthuralevinebooks.com/images/182.jpg

Cow. Wall. Moon. Love. Army. Poetry. Wedding. Surgery. Loss. Hope. Ending. Beginning. What do these words mean? What do they all have in common? Zulaikha knows these words. She's tried them, studied them, and loved them each and all. As she goes along with her teacher and friend, Meena, she finds herself embracing a new Afghanistan. The Americans have come, bringing fear as well as hope. Zulaikha is brave, but will she be able to withstand the heartbreak coming? However, as her madar always said: Every triumph springs from patience!

This book was very good, but I have to say that it wasn't the best....

**I give this book a 8 out of 10!

Seekers: Spirits in the Stars

WARNING. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT READ THIS BOOK REVIEW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO READ THE SEEKERS SERIES DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS THE 6TH BOOK AND I MIGHT BE A SPOILER.
http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/214/c/0/Seekers_Spirits_in_the_Stars_by_WarriorcatzluvMedi.jpg

As they trek through frigid conditions on the ice, Toklo, Lusa, Kallik, and Ujurak are met with hunger, wild animals, other not-so-nice bears, and a lone cub that Kallik decides to mother. They are soon met with doubt, hurt, concern, and fate. For one of them, the journey ends here, in a desperate effort to save his friends. Which will it be? The ferocious yet careless Toklo, the small but jolly Lusa, with her constant weaving in an out of the deep sleep, Ujurak, whom the bears could not have made the journey without, or Kallik, the polar bear that takes care of the others while they are on the ice, hunting and digging dens for them, but steadfast determined. As their journey to bring back the spirits in the stars back to the isalnd (yes, now you see why it's named that way) comes to a slow end, they wonder: will this be the last time we see each other? Yet only time will bring an answer. Erin Hunter expertly weaves a tale to follow the footsteps of four, no three, bears with a brimming loyalty toward each other. Yet, through the toughest bonds of relationships, they fight with each other, especially over a small cub: Kissimi. Will Kissimi finally tear away the tough roots of three bears' friendship and take Kallik for his, or will Kallik finally listen to Toklo's reasoning and 'come back'? I won't spoil more the book for you: you must read on as the bears forged onto their way. Who will join the stars today?

*** I rate this book a 9.5 out of 10! This book will capture Warrior fans!***

Pandora Gets Heart

Yes. I like Greek Mythology, okay?

Meet Pandora, Alcie, Iole, and Homer on an evil- hunting chase. This time, their tracking down lust, which is hidden in the golden apple. You know the story: Paris has to decide which is the fairest: Athena, Aphrodite, or Hera. As they travel back and forth of time, they meet sorrow, hate, love, hope and, well, lust (duh). Why are they hunting down these evil things? You should know the story of Pandora- the girl which opens the jar, releasing all the evil in the jar, only to be left with hope. Read the other books: Pandora Gets Jealous, Pandora Gets Vain, and Pandora Gets Lazy. Whoo hoo! Does any of these seem like words that you would come across? Well, traveling back in time is great and everything, but comes with a few dangers, nothing much. It's just that if you make any drastic changes, you just might not be born! Nothing much, as I said... gulp! This exciting series will be sure to have you clinging onto your seat!

*** I rate this book a 9.8 out of 10! Whoope the best score yet! I would give it a ten, but alas, nothing perfect....
