W.A.R.P is an absolutely AMAZING book by Eoin Colfer. Yep! Eoin Colfer. Author of the Artemis Fowl series, another AMAZING series if you care to check them out, he's back to writing the W.A.R.P series! And for all those paradox wormhole lovers out there, this book is the book for you.
Featuring a boy, a seventeen-year-old FBI agent, and a murderer, it's a 'tag: you're it' tale. Here's a catch. It's not 'Tag: you're it'. It's 'tag: you're dead'. Riley is an orphan. An orphan who was apprenticed to Albert Garrick. Albert Garrick was an illusionist. Then things went sour for him, sending him down the murderer's route. Meanwhile, Chevron Savano is under 'surveillance' by Agent Orange, in modern London.
Yet how do these two pairs of characters come together? After all, Garrick and Riley are from Victorian London, and Agent Chevie and Orange from modern London! And the key lies with Garrick's next victim and Riley's supposedly first-kill: a scientist from the future: and also part of the FBI Witness Anonymous Relocation Program, also known as W.A.R.P. And he holds the key to going into the future. Quite literally. With that, Riley is transported into the future. With Garrick hot on his heels. Thanks Riley. You brought the quickest, brightest, magician- assassin to us. Awesome present. Now Riley, and Chevie have to deal with an assassin who knows magic tricks, who can perform magic thanks to the wormhole, and who wants to take over the world. Right. Did I mention the knife?
Eoin Colfer wrote another fantastic, amazing, wonderful story, and I'm really looking forward to reading the other books in this series!!! I think W.A.R.P is an amazing story because it's delightfully complicated, yet at the end, the ending is so beautiful to read, because you can totally understand the whole story after!
