I am Number Four
I am Number Four is a novel about a boy from the planet of Lorien- one of the nine people that were sent to Earth when the battle was raging in Lorien and Loriens were loosing. Their last hope. They came to Earth in hope of peace, yet the enemy follows, hunting them each by each. Number Four, also known as John Smith, is next to die. He is number four. And Number Three, Two, and One, are already dead. They can all only be killed in order as long as they remain apart from each other, away. Yet that may just make them weaker, less strong. Maybe being together is what they need the most right now. Yet there are risks- big risks.
Four finds a lot of friends in the unlikeliest of places, in the unlikeliest of peoples, and even so, many miracles. Finding the father in Henri and finding that his dog, Bernie Kosar, is a chimaera is the easy part. Trying to make the right decision all the time is what is really hard. And the wrong choice may destroy him any time, any day. So, he better be pretty careful about who to trust. 'Cause bad guys can act good for some time as well. Then again, good guys can be bad. It all matters on him. However, Four has legacies, as so do all of the others. So does Six. With the Magadorians on their trail, hungry for distruction, choices are limited. However, there are some.

Legend of Zelda ~Four Swords~
Hi everyone. Today, I will be blogging about the two books I got for Christmas: Legend of Zelda Manga: Four Swords! This is another manga featuring Link, much like Majora's Mask. However, this time, there are five Links- each for each personality of Link: Green (focused and motivated), Blue (hotheaded and aggressive), Red (innocent and optimistic), and Vio (calm and collected). There may even be a Shadow Link somewhere... Together, they have to make a team. Yet Link is so used to not being in a team- or being a one-man team. Can they make it? Or will they be overwhelmed with the need to argue?
In these two volumes, Link and his other personalities go on an adventure to rescue Princess Zelda (per usual) and the six maidens from Shadow Link. Shadow Link is a powerful and sinister enemy. But there are worse things than him. Vaati and Ganon are one. Yet wherever dark, there will be light. Light is what they need.
Four Swords is a manga about teamwork, belief, loyalty, and darkness and light. To defeat the darkness that resides, become one again and harness the power of the Four Sword. Trust me... Trust each other....
'He only made trouble... So that we'd notive him. He was tired of being ignored. He wanted to be with us... to be with his family.'
'A shadow usually only ever follows its body. It never gets to lead the way.'
***I give this book a 9.65 out of 10! Great manga!***

As they get closer and closer towards their destination yet father and father away from home, it seems that the close relationship that Isis and Hopi shared is just getting farther and farther away. The Potato Chip Puzzles
This novel by Eric Berlin is about a boy named Winston Breen that takes part in an all-day puzzle hunt. Winston is psyched. However, the puzzles prove to be more challenging and the competitors more competitive than he had thought. There also may be a cheater lurking around somewhere... But! Don't give up! There still may be hope left.
When they get in a jumbled mess between the teams of the riddle hunters, it is up to Winston and his friends to unscrew it up. After all, this is a fight for puzzles. Yet at the same time, it's a fight for dignity!
Dmitri Simon, the host of the hunt, seems to get the game into a mess as well: letting the cheaters keep of cheating until the end of the game. It looks like accidents are all happening to the teams. As if someone wants to get them out of the way.... The only way for Winston's team is to win seems like combining with others. Will they be able to stick together?
Eric Berlin wrote a nerve-wracking novel of puzzles, more puzzles, and Winston Breen. Read it to find out who wins!

Safe As Houses
"We were safe as houses."
Safe as Houses is a novel by Eric Walters based on Hurricane Hazel. On the fateful day of October 5, 1954, Hurricane Hazel started to develop and ultimately made land on the morning of October 15. Now you can ultimately take the journey of Hurricane Hazel: the terror, fear, and cold. Yet without terror, there is no safety and without fear there is no peace. Without failure there is no victory. Without regret, there is no gain.
The main characters in this story are Lizzie Hardy, the babysitter, David McBride, the prolonged trouble maker, and Suzie McBride, the sweet helpless, sweet little girl. The story begins as Lizzie walks the children through the pouring rain back to their home. However, they quickly realize that this is not just a regular rainstorm. The river is swelling up so fast that it is reaching their house. The children's parents call to say that they are having trouble coming home and that the roads are flooded. The lights go out and the phone is dead soon after. By the time Suzie is asleep, the flood water has invaded the house and is rising very fast. They take to the roof for safety.
Safe as Houses is an amazing and haunting novel of the adventure of the three children during Hurricane Hazel. Will they make it out together? Will their parents make it? Will they make it?

Last Chance Bay
'"Well, anyone can give up on a dream."
His mouth dropped open. "You wouldn't."
Last Chance Bay is a touching story about a girl named Meg Christie who lives at Cape Breton. It is set during the Second World War (World War II). Meg Christie wishes something no girl (other than Amelia Earhart and Beryl Markham) has ever done. She wishes to fly. There at that time, especially when World War II is raging, it is almost an impossible dream. Still, 'If there's a will, there's a way.' There may just be a way- if she keeps on trying. But it's so easy to give up hope, give up dreams. It's so easy to quit. So tempting to quit. Can she resist?
Meg Christie with her cousin, Caleb, try hard to fulfill their dreams and desires. However, as Caleb goes away and Meg just keeps on getting crabbier and crabbier, things don't look so good for either one of them. After all, one can hope so much and wish so much. One day, hope is extinguished and still, life moves on. You think: 'How crabby can a girl get?'. A LOT. She can get curt as well:
'They stopped and watched as I grabbed a few carrots from the vegetable bin.
"You hungry?"
"Yup. Good night."'
It seems that things seem to get out of order, like an unbalanced wheel. Seconds from crashing- seconds from loosing hope forever. Seconds from loosing dreams.
'Humans weren't meant to be underground. The earth's foundations didn't like being disturbed. Any fool knew that.'
Anne Laurel Carter wrote an amazing book about hope, dreams, heartbreak, hate, love, longing, and sorrow. Last Chance Bay is one of must-reads. It will change your view of airplanes and cousins forever. Whatever you do, don't stop dreaming and hoping. Even if it seems hopeless. Especially if it seems hopeless.
"'My friend, you would not tell me with such high zest to children ardent for some desperate glory, the old lie: Dulce et decorun est / Pro protria mori."
There is no honour dying in war, just a lot of blood, and men dying.'
Do you beleive?

Legend of Zelda ~Majora's Mask~
Legend of Zelda is a series of manga that originated from video games. There are a bunch of these manga all around. I think that Akira Himekawa did an amazing job of drawing and writing the manga series!
Link is a courageous elf boy that is always off to save the world with his fairy friend and traveling companion, Navi. Navi is a pesky little fairy that is always telling Link off for doing bad things. Link, the main character is off to find Navi after she disappeared. In this story, he meets Skull Kid, a poor boy that was lonely after his friend's departure and turned to a havoc-making troublemaker, and his fairies: Tatl and Tael, who are brothers and sisters. When Skull Kid steals Link's precious Ocarina of Time, and turns Link into a Deku Shrub, things only get worse! It will take all of Link's skill and determination to save himself and the world as Skull Kid brings the moon down... However, is Skull Kid really the problem? Or is there something controlling him?
Read with Link to go on an incredible journey through snowfall, hardship, fear, longing, hate, and sorrow! This is a manga worth having!

Skinny Bones and the Wrinkle Queen
'The numbers swim in my head. The modeling course costs twenty-five hundred dollars. No point in asked Shirl and Herb for it. At the end of every month, Herb does a lot of moaning and sighing over bills and pops Rolaids by the handful. Shirl gives his shoulder rubs and says she's got a plan for cutting down on groceries next week. The plans never seem to work, though.Tamara and Miss Barclay. Skinny Bones and the Wrinkle Queen. Foster-home reject and former school teacher. Two very different personalities. Two very different styles. Two very different goals. In the same car. Going down the same road. To the same places... Well, not exactly. To very different people- more different than black and white. Right. This is bound to get interesting.
Who in the world has twenty-five hundred dollars? The question aches inside of me.
And then I think of her. Miss Killer Tomato and her diamond-studded opera brooch.
The idea's crazy, of course. She looks tougher than the Wicked Witch of the West.
And yet the idea doesn't go away...'
It all starts with Tamara getting carried away with her modeling. With the question:
'Who in the world has twenty-five hundred dollars?'
As Miss Barclay and Tamara go on a life-changing road trip, they get caught on news, sent to the hospital, and get in deep water all at once. However, there are times when they feel that it's worth suffering for. Is it? They each want to fulfill their own dreams. Tamara wants to become a model. Miss Barclay wants to see the opera once more in her life. Can they? They both want it to be a secret. Especially to Miss Barclay's meddlesome nephew, Byron. And Tamara's foster parents, Shirl and Herb. Oh, yes. And practically every staff member of the school. Wow. What's some lies she's going to have to write. A LOT. This is just getting better and better.
Read on as Skinny Bones and the Wrinkle Queen argue till they laugh, scream until they loose their voices, and laugh until they cry. They're a funny pair, they are.
Glen Huser writes an amazing novel from the point of view of Skinny Bones and the Wrinkle Queen. It's full of loyalty, sacrifice, love, hate, ambush, and friendship. Can they make it through the trip without biting each other's head off first?
***I give this book a 9 out of 10. Great Book! I recommend it to the people who like the book Rules of the Road by Joan Bauer.***

The Byzantium Bazaar
Bridie is lost. Bridie is confused. Bridie is surprised. And Bridie is helped. Not necessarily in that order...
As Bridie travels through the sinister and cold streets of the eerie city that she has come across, Bridie seems to find the help and friendship she needs in the unlikeliest places! As she travels through places she and her 'upright' Aunt Dolly would have never thought 'proper', she finds herself being useful to the Byzantium Bazaar, the home of many animals without homes! As she comes across the wicked Crickbones twins whom have taken over her grandfather's yard and forced him from his home! As Bridie travels around looking for him, she seems to make friends with everything she comes across- even the animals she comes to take care of! Most important of all is Shah of the Byzantium Bazaar. As Amos and Deakin make things complicated for Bridie and her new-found friends, it's up to Bridie to make them right and restore order to the world she knew before.
Stephen Elboz creates a world of mystery and sinister energy. As Bridie plows on and on through the cluster of deep troubles that block her way to her grandfather, she seems to finally understand the true meaning of friendship, loyalty, and trust.

The Son of Neptune
This book by Rick Riordan can perform magic on it's own. As Rick Riordan pulls the reader into the adventure of the brainwashed Percy Jackson, Hazel, who's supposed to be dead, and Frank, who's life belongs to a piece of wood, you can feel the pressure and action this adventure takes on. As the sequel of the Lost Hero, it's bound to be exciting!
As Percy and his newmade friends from Camp Jupiter make their way to Alaska to terminate the giant Alcyoneus. As things get tight between friendships, survival, greed, and well, death, they find that their loyalty and secrets run deeper than they thought. As Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood get closer together than ever, history is being written- again. Gaea is rising, possibly bringing the end of the gods and goddesses, yet the goddesses and gods are being as unhelpful as ever. The fall or rise of Gaea lies in the demi-gods' hands. Yet without help from above (yes, and below, can't forget Pluto (Hades)), that kind of task is nearly impossible. Yet they all have secrets that they want to keep from each other. Frank's life is weirdly dependent on a piece of firewood, Hazel is a girl from very long ago, and Percy isn't even from this camp. As a story of loss, regret, and forgiveness unravels, they meet Death in a innumerable about of turns. Percy and his friends' lives are threatened at every moment, every hour, and every day. It seems unlikely that they will make it out of this quest with their lives.
Rick Riordan humors us with the adventurous tale of Percy Jackson, the Olympians, and his friends again. It is an amazing book for readers that want something exciting!

The Midnight Diary of Zoya Blume
Zoya Blume is in a difficult phase of her life. That much I can understand. Yet the book plasters me with questions that I cannot seem to understand, questions about the past of Zoya's life and her secrets, her fears, her beliefs, and her strong relationship to her mother. When Zoya has to let go of her safety and get out of her comfort zones, I wonder, why? Why does she let go. As curiosity makes me edge my way towards reading more and more of the book, I slowly begin to understand, much like a sun letting go a few rays of sunshine until it heats up the sky with a brilliancy that cannot be seen directly by human eyes. When her mother must leave, with the promise to come back in seven days, the little girl that we begin to know begins a midnight diary to keep track of the week that just seems like forever. With Leon, her mother's magical friend, Flynn, her Gypsy neighbor, and Stone Girl, the beautiful stone statue that guards the house are all friends that help her get by. Through each struggle to defeat the Buka, the monster that comes out to haunt Zoya while she is in the darkness of the night, Zoya gets more determined to get to the day when her mom promised to come back: May 30th. Her birthday. As each morning signals another day for Zoya, another night of victory over the Buka, another day behind, one step closer to the returning of her mom, Zoya discovers things she never thought of before about herself, Leon, and Flynn. Is it possible that she might actually enjoy their company?
As Zoya loses herself in the magic of the days alone, it makes the reader think about what she goes through and how you would manage. This amazing book really teaches you about how sometimes, even the strangers of strangers can really care for your sanity and well-being. Like Leon, for one.

Kaspar Prince of Cats
It is just another ordinary day for Johnny Trott as bell boy at the hotel when he runs into Countess Kandinsky and the cat, Kaspar, Prince of Cats. From then on, his life changes drastically. From being the poor orphan and turning into one of Lizziebeth's family. This story shows how just and ordinary boy like Johnny can be the best friend that you can have and sometimes, being kind is the best you can do.
Johnny and his story of Kaspar, Prince of Cats shows just how much friendship means, even if it is just a cat, true friends will always stay with you and never lose hope. Even when they feel as if their hopes are being dashed to the bottom of the ocean, much like the Titanic. Even when the Countess and later, Kaspar cease from existence, they are always there in Lizziebeth and little Johnny Trotts' hearts. Every one of his friends that were aboard the Titanic have a place in there as well. Even Little Michie, little as he is.
Kaspar, Prince of Cats is a wonderful, heartfelt story about Johnny Trott's life at the hotel. Perhaps it can truly turn out to be a happy ending, even when he is an orphan with only a bunch of fantasies to give him hope at the beginning!

On My Honor
This Newberry Honor story is about Joel, and his best friend, Tony, going for a swim in the dangerous River Vermillion. On My Honor is a short story on a tragic event that changes Joel's life forever.
On this day, Joel and his best friend, Tony decide to scale the haphazardly sharp and tall river bluffs at the park. However, when they get sidetracked and decide to swim in the Vermillion River instead, it turns to be a even worse idea than to climb the river bluffs. Sometimes, daring things like that cost a lot more than a few wounds!
On My Honor is a story about loss and trust, and most importantly, friendship- sometimes, it's good to have something to hold onto, yet on other times, it's better to let go. After all, there are some things that you can't change- things that already happened. You have to live with the decisions that you've made.
Marion Dane Bauer is an amazing author that manages to fit the pulsing beat of a heart and the feel of life into words and into a short story.

Double Fudge
Fudge loves money. These days, he is all about money and even sings about it while he's sleeping. For Halloween, he decides to be a miser. He creates his own money and prepares to buy the whole entire world (well, Toys "R" Us at least).
When Fudge and his brother, Pete, go to Washington, the first place they visit is the place where they make the green stuff (otherwise known as money). Fudge listens very attentively, but interupts the guide, Rosie, a lot of times with questions about it. However, it gets even worse when Fudge goes to the gift shop and he and his big brother, Pete, meet their Cousin Howie and his family. It only gets worse from then on, from their family coming over to sleep at their house and even attending their school! Pete thinks that he could die 0f embarrassment. The arguments of Fudge and Mini-Fudge (who are as annoying as each other) doesn't help, either. As Peter (Pete) meets a whole bunch of problems with the incoming family in their house, he doesn't seem it can get any worse. Well, what do you know? Maybe it can.
Double Fudge is a great book filled with things to laugh at and grimace for. It's interesting how hard you can laugh at a book!
***I give this book a 9.5 out 10***
I listed a few sections from the book that I thought was funny:
p.70
"Well, yes," Rosie said. I suppose some people refer to money as moola or even as dough.
"How about green stuff?" Fudge shouted. "That's what my grandma calls it."
...
Then she lead us through the metal detector. Fudge asked if we were getting on a plane. Rosie explained that we weren't, but because this is a federal building they had to make sure no one was carrying a weapon.
"A weapon?" Fudge said, right before dad set off the alarm. Nobody would have paid any attention except that Fudge shouted, "Dad! Are you carrying a weapon?" That got everyone's attention.
"It's it his belt buckle, Turkey Brain," I said.
p.124
"""""That's the rule," Dad said.
"It's a stupid rule," Fudge said.
"We don't say the stupid word," Dad reminded him.
"Yes we do," Fudge said. "We just don't say it about people. If we want to say it about people, we say Turkey Brain. Ask Pete. He knows."
p.136

I really recommend it to all eleven year olds and up!

Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets
"This looks like a job for... Captain Underpants!" Here it is to More action, more 'laffs' and more flip-o-rama. Welcome to the land of Talking Toilets!
I love Captain Underpants books because they make spelling mistakes, but not so much that we can't read the story, they make such weird and unnatural plots that it makes me laugh until juice comes out of my nose, and last but not least, because it makes sense even if you read the last one before you read the first one! Now let's travel into this book, shall we?
In this book, Harold and George have to save the world from evil talking toilets that are going around, eating people, and saying: "YUM YUM, EAT 'EM UP!" How will they ever escape?
How did these toilets become alive? Thanks to Melvin Sneedly's PASTY 2000. This machine can photocopy things into real life! It seems like a pretty innocent invention to me! After all, George and Harold are pretty sure that it doesn't make real copies and that Melvin was just fooling with them. So they sneak into the gym and start photocopying their comic book, only to be proved very wrong! It does turn things into real life! As they run from the gym in a hurry to not get eaten, what will happen next? Read the book to find out!

Harry Potter VS Twilight
Hello. Yes, some of you may not know, but there has been this big debate going on. It's called Harry Potter Versus Twilight. It's actually been going on for quite a while by now. Personally, I'm a Harry Potter fan, but I have nothing (much) against Twilight. Just saying, no offense to the Twilight people, but I think Harry Potter is way more original... After all, how many times a day do you come across a book that has vampires and werewolves in it? A LOT! Just think about it.... :P

My Rotten Life: Nathan Abercrombie, Accidental ZOMBIE
Nathan Abercrombie, accidental zombie, officially not breathing, not chewing, not digesting and definitely not feeling, is here. What will happen to this unlucky boy next?
In this book, Nathan Abercrombie looses his thumb (and thankfully manages to glue it back on) and tries to get the cure for this 'disease'. At the same time, there are good things about being a zombie and it's that you don't have to sleep, you don't feel tired, you don't to go to the washroom at bad moments, and last but not least, you don't get hurt! For example, in the book, Nathan gets stabbed by a fork, but when he pulls it out... Ta da! Only for neat holes on the bridge of his nose! Also, there was an incident when he lost his thumb and when he found it, it could do some gross things! How will he ever be about to find a cure for this dreadful 'illness'? How will he hide this from his safety-oriented-kind-of-insane mom? Read to find out more about this accidental zombie and his adventures to find a cure. Will he be able to turn back alive in time?
***I give this book a 8.5 out of 10. The plot was great, but the actual story lacked something.***
Firegirl
Tony Abbott is an amazing author. In this book, a girl named Jessica Feeney moves into Tom's neighborhood and school. As said in the book:
'On the outside, it doesn't look like much happened. A burned girl (Jessica) was in my class for a while. Once I took her some homework. In class she said my name. Then she was gone.'
In some ways never imagined, though, Tom is changed in the inside. Stuff he used to do like playing with his friends Jeff and Rich don't seem to make sense anymore. To play and joke around while another person is somewhere fighting for her life and sitting alone every hour doesn't seem right. Firegirl is a powerful novel that shows how the smallest of gestures like bringing somebody (whom others don't like) their homework can have a great impact on someone.
When Tom and his class first meets Jessica, they are all disgusted. They are afraid of her and don't want anything to do with her. After a few days, Tom starts getting closer to her and at the end holds a tentative friendship with Jessica. As Tom starts going over to her house (first to drop off her homework but them slowly to see how she's doing), he learns more than he could every imagine about Jessica and her terrible accident. What has made Jessica this way and who is the mysterious girl in the picture? Will Jessica be okay? Read on as Tom slowly unravels the mysteries of Jessica's past and looks into her future.

Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants
Captain Underpants, to the rescue! George and Harold aren't bad kid at all. It is just that they think school is boring and sometimes decide to 'liven things up a little'! Except that sometimes it gets a little out of hand and they get in heaps of trouble. Well, most of the times, really. Even when they really, truly believe that they are doing the right thing, such as switching the sign of "Don't UNDERESTIMATE Our Good TEACHERS" into "Our TEACHERS Don't USE DEodERANT" Yes. Very funny.
In this comic/novel, when George and Harold's evil science teacher, Professor Pippy Pee-Pee Poopypants (really, not making it up), tries to take of the world with a maniacal, mad scientist guy in an enlarged robot suit, well, things get out of hand. Who will save the world this time? seems like a job for CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS (who is actually Mr. Krupp, their mean principal). Will Captain Underpants succeed?
This book is full of 'Laffs', 'Romance (Just Kidding)', and 'Action'! Your are sure to hurt because of laughing so much!
***I give this book a 8.5 out of 10.... ***
Little Bo in Italy: The Continued Adventures of Bonnie Boadicea
Little Bo, short for Bonnie Boadicea, is off to Italy. At first, because of the cat and the cartoon-ish pictures, I thought that it was a childrens' story. However, I was downright wrong to be so judging of the book. "Never judge a book by its cover." This book has amazing vocabulary (and also as amazing pictures) and the authors, Julie Andrews Edwards (best known for her performance in Marry Poppins, the Sound of Music, and The Princess Diaries) and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton. Wow! This family sure has done a lot of amazing things!
In Little Bo in Italy, Little Bo travels with her new-found owner, Billy Bates, to Italy with Lord and Lady Goodlad's famous yacht, Legend. Bo is delighted - now she can see more of the world and she continue her quest to find her lost brothers and sisters. She is determined to know that they are all safe and sound. Which relatives will she meet this time? What new things will she learn? In Italy, little Bo sees sights she's never seen before, has adventures that test her strength, courage, and spirit. She shows once again that even a small cat such as her can make a difference in the world.
I feel that the Little Bo series is a lot of inspirational books. I believe that everybody should read them because they each tell us that we all have choices to make. Even the smallest pets. What choices have you made? As little Bo travels all over Italy, she proves that even the smallest act can make a big difference. And so can you!

Artemis Fowl the Graphic Novel
As I mentioned in the other blogs, I have talked about Artemis Fowl, the teenage genius. This is the first book turned into a graphic novel.
In this book, Holly Short, the first female LEPrecon officer in all of history, is captured by Artemis Fowl and charged for fairy gold. As Butler, Artemis, and Juliet, Butler's sister go argue between the fairies and Commander Root (otherwise known as Beetroot with his comrades at the LEPrecon office) the price of Holly Short, Mulch Diggums, the dwarf criminal who has spend the last three hundred years going in and out of prison, as gone into Artemis' safety box and took The Book. The Book is the fairy bible and contains all the fairy people's rules, laws, and weaknesses. However, it is written cleverly in Gnomish, which no human can decode. No ordinary human anyway. Artemis, this tricky genius criminal, has decoded it. What has Artemis started by clashing the fairy and people world together when the fairies have worked so hard to keep it apart? Read the beginning of the amazing adventures of Artemis and Captain Short!
About this series, though, I believe that you should read the book before before you read the graphic novel because if you read the comic first, it gives you the pictures of the people, but in the novel, you can imagine what they look like, first. For one, I did not think that Artemis Fowl would look like that I definitely not that about Holly either. I also didn't think that Juliet was so small compared to Butler. I am not saying that the book didn't have good descriptions, but that the people who drew it must have thought of them in ways that I didn't. Therefore, I think it's good to test your imagination first. See how close you get.
I recommend this book to people who love the Percy Jackson series and the Harry Potter ones as well. Eoin Colfer wrote a novel fit for pictures and words!
***It give this graphic novel a 9 out of 10. Be sure to read the book first!***

Melonhead and the Big Stink
First, before I begin, I will give you a little peek at the back of the book. Here's what Melonhead's mom made for him!
It was an index card.
"To make it fun I named it Remind-O-Rama," she said.
"What does it do?" Melonhead asked.
"Whenever you get and idea, just check the Remind-O. If you see it, don't do it."
Every rule was in a different color.
Remind-O-Rama
1. NO walking on roofs.
2. NO climbing trees.
3. NO putting things in your nose.
4. NO snakes.
5. NO rodents.
6. NO playing in our yard until after the Capitol Hill House and Garden Tour and Contest.
7. NO haircuts by nonprofessionals.
"There's nothing left," Melonhead said.
It was the list of Doom.

Now you can really see how funny this book is. In this book of the Melonhead series, Melonhead and his best pal, Sam, put their minds upon going to see the titan arum plant. It is supposedly located in New York and only blooms every seven years and they want to see it! Can they comvince one of the adults to come and see it with them? How far will they go to see it? As they come towards fat dissappointments, what other trouble will Melonhead cause? Read the quaking funny troublemaker's story to find out! This book as just as racking and exciting as the last book. If possible, Melonhead has become even more atrocious!

Artimis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex
As you may know, Artemis Fowl is a series book and this is the seventh. Also, I believe that one should read the first book before reading the last book. Therefore, I say: 'The Artemis Fowl books are all really good. Read them in order and they will be better, as they will make more sense.'
In this book, Artemis, the criminal mastermind, has come down with the illness: the Atlantic Complex, caused by fair magic and guilt. Will Artemis be able to be his own self once again? As he goes on mind-rattling adventures with the fairy, Holly Short, and the centaur Foaly, he learns thing no normal human has ever learned before. After all, he isn't normal by a long shot, either. After all, he is a criminal mastermind (who is temporarily afraid of '4's at the moment and not exactly sane sometimes). Per usual, Eoin Colfer weaves an intricate story of Artemis Fowl. Will he come out alive at the end?

Nancy Drew #3 The Haunted Dollhouse
As many people may know, Nancy Drew book come out both as books and comic books. However, this particular one which I will talk about is a comic.
Nancy Drew, girl detective, is in with another mystery- the haunted doll house. Who is behind all of this and making the dolls move? Or is the doll house really haunted? After all, it seems that the doll house can mysteriously tell actions that would happen in the future. When Nancy and her friends: Bess and George come in on the case, not even the police can find anything! Can Nancy crack the case and escape from the death of her life? Or will she leave empty-handed? Read to find out.
***I give this comic a 7.9 out of 10... It was good, but can't beat the book!***
Half Moon Investigations
Half Moon is by Eoin Colfer the writer of the Artemis Fowl series. He is a terrific author and very into investigations and mysteries. I have read all of the Artemis Fowl series and have to give my highest respect to them as they were speechlessly amazing. I have asked many times to my friends before: 'If you write something like that mystery where the boy is a downright genius, are you a genius as well?' I, for one, still think that it takes a lot of brains to figure stuff out like Artemis Fowl or Half Moon. Getting beaten up while you're at it? Not the best packaging.
Half Moon Investigations is about a a boy named Fletcher (other wise known as Half Moon because of his 'short stature'). This boy, he's different. Yes. Peculiar. As the youngest detective in the world, (and a certified one at that- he even has a badge he holds dear to prove it) things are bound not to end well. Therefore, when he breaks the rule he holds as law (Bernestien's law). He puts out everything he has at stake (including... Well.. His life), at the same time macking some very unlikely friends. Will he finally be able to make his point and catch the right criminal? What if there are more than one? This novel will capture your attention and keep it until the end of the book. After all, how bad can investigations get.... Read to find out more!

When You Reach Me
Rebecca Stead writes a beautiful novel about Miranda and her best friend, Sam. However, when a boy punches Sam in the stomach for no apparent reason, Sam starts shading away from Miranda. Miranda is tough and manages to pull through. Still, there are notes that keep on coming to her- mysterious anonymous notes. Can Miranda find out who is passing them? Rebecca is an amazing author and I enjoyed this book very much. Also, I found it funny that there was a mentioning of A Wrinkle in Time and I did a blog about that as well.
I did read this book twice as it will make much more sense that way. I think that this is a book is one everyone should read and if people don't... Well... They'll be missing out. In this book, Miranda struggles to understand the Laughing Man at the corner, Marcus, the boy that hit Sam, Sam, her ex-friend, and Julie, the girl that is so different from her. Secrets veiled away from our eyes and Miranda's. Will she be able to lift her veil?
Here is an important excerpt from the story:
'I feel happy. I smile and grab Mom's hands and jump up and down with her. I let go of her and raise my arms over my head and feel the audience roar louder.
I am not thinking of the wall-to-wall carpet, or the trip to China.
I am jumping up and down because at the very moment Dick Clark said the word "Go," it was like an invisible hand reached out and snatched away my veil. And almost a minute, I understood everything. When that veil isn't hanging down right in front of a person's face, a minute is long enough to realize a lot of things.'

The Unseen
Xandra Hobson is different. She's not like the other Hobson family- not beautiful, nor talented in any way. Also, she has an interest in magic. When she finds a mystic, wounded white bird, in the Forbidden Forest, she takes it home to nurture. However, when the bird leaves a single white feather, Xandra is convinced that there is something magical to it. It gets even more mysterious when a weird girl in her school refers to it as a key. Belinda, the girl, becomes the girl she gets all the answers from. When she uses it to go to the world of Unseen, she is surprised at what is hidden behind it. What does she see that we don't?
Zipha Keatley Snyder weaves an intricate tale between the human world and the world of the Unseen.

Melonhead
Melonhead is an amazing book about a boy named Adam, (preferably Melonhead, though) and his childhood trouble making. After all, 'there's never a dull momment when your name is MELONHEAD' I find that completely true in this book! Melonhead is a classic troublemaker from losing a snake (that his mom doesn't know about) in the house, getting his foot stuck in a tree and jumping on other people's roofs. After all, it is a shortcut! Melonhead will have you laughing in stitches. Melonhead is also great at doing other things than getting into trouble. He can invent things! He's a great inventor, although his inventions usually include either his best friend, Sam's, mother getting angry, Melonhead's mother getting angry, or blowing something up. Other than that, it's all good!
***I give this book a 9 out of 10. Its was purely epic!***
I'll give you the last line of the book. If you read the book, you'll understand why I picked it.

I will finish with a little from the book.
"The foolishness of God is wiser than men; the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, bath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are."

Charlotte's Web
First of all, I have to get something straight with the book covers. The one on top is the signature edition.
Meanwhile, this one is the 'original' copy. What's the difference? Well, I only figured this out a few days ago. First of all, The signature version has E.B. White's signature on the top and has the Newbery- honor award. Second of all, it has the golden border on the red. So there are some differences. See if you can find some more!
This book is about some farm animals, a spider, and a girl. The girl's name is Fern, who is a friend of the pig, Wilbur. Now, Wilbur has a friend- the spider, who's name is Charlotte. Fern isn't an ordinary girl. She's a girl that can speak the barn animals' languages! This book is filled with love, sorrow, hope, hate, trust, and tears. The barn animals and Fern themselves weave an exciting tale. However, at the end, they all understand that friendship is the most important of all. Wilbur had a great friend: Charlotte. "It's not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. Charlotte was both."

Yes... The beloved Pooh is back to the Hundred Acre Wood along with his friends Christopher Robin, Eeyore, Piglet, Owl, Tigger, Rabbit, Lottie, Kanga with Roo, and the mice: Early and Late. This book has been forever a favourite of mine. Perfect for nursery stories and for elders all at once, it's a wonderful example of a classic. I would trade Jane Eyre for Pooh any day! This book brings the Hundred Acre Wood back from a long time ago. From being stuck in Rabbit's house to running out of honey, follow Pooh between his adventures through the Hundred Acre Woods!

The Penderwicks at Point Mouette
The Penderwicks are back! Where are they? At Point Mouette, of course! The problem is that they're all split up.... Rosalind is at New Jersey with her best friend, Mr. Penderwick is going to England with Iantha and little Ben, and the rest of the Penderwick girls along with their darling friend: Jeffry are at Point Mouette. However, this story is about the three Penderwick girls and Jeffry. That would make Jeffry, Skye (also known as OAP- oldest available Penderwick), Jane, and Batty. However, with all the Sabrina Star stories, Dominic, Mercedes, the Love Survey, the atrocious dogs, and the caution of Batty blowing up, can Skye keep the family together without losing her brain cells? At least Jeffrey has found his real father. If that's good news. It's not making the vacation any more spectacular! At the end, they all want to come back. But with Rosalind, as Skye points out!

Dork Diaries #3
More Dorkiness coming up! The Dork Dairies are one of my favourite series of comic books. This dorky book is filled with a girl named Nikki J. Maxwell, a NOT-SO-talented-pop-star in high school with her BFFs: Chloe and Zoey. They're in serious trouble from the bug problem to the all-time fashion-ista MacKenzie Hollister. The fact that Nikki has a crush on the same boy (Brandon) that MacKenzie has a crush on doesn't make her high school life any easier! Just when Nikki's social life seems to crash and her life at WCD seems to end, her BFFs are back and Nikki learns that she can hold it all together... With her family and friends anyway. After all, she doesn't have to be the only dork in the school, right? This exciting sequel captures your attention and grabs at it all the time!

In this book, Cynthia Kadohata weaves an exciting novel of a girl named Katie and her older sister, Lynnie, also known as Lynn. Their parents are at work most of the time, so Lynn is in charge of her. Katie also has a brother named Samson. This Japanese family seems to have a hard time fitting in. How will they manage? With her older sister with a sickness and her brother limping around, how does Katie manage to keep to herself and help the world? The mean boys and girls at school are teasing her and it doesn't help that Lynn isn't there to help her. Katie is in a difficult position in life right now, but she is still strong and holding. However, for how long more? Her uncle isn't the sanest person in her family. We could all agree on calling him insane. Bone Old Man's Cave
For once, it's not a book I'm going to write about. It's a comic book. The BONE series has forever been one of my favourite comic books of all time. In this book, the Lord of the Locusts is awakening. Why is that bad? Here's part from the book:
Bone: Okay, okay. Just for the sake of argument, suppose all this dream stuff is real... What would actually happen if the hooded one managed to set the Lord of the Locusts free?
This is what Grandma Ben answered:
Grandma Ben: Why, the end of the world, of course.
Over all, the book is pretty explanatory. I think that Jeff Smith did a really good job of drawing and it created a lot of action!

Countdown
5, 4, 3, 2, 1! That's how the people expect the world to end- being blown into bits and pieces. Franny Chapman's family isn't doing so well. She's a girl with a runaway sister, a saintly brother, an overworked mother, an army officer for a father, and her uncle- well, let's say that he's not exactly sane. It only makes it worse that her best friend has turned on her and is now cooing over her crush. Yet that is the only problem with her friends and family. The outside world is getting bombed- literally. At school, they forever practice the 'duck and cover' technique. Will Franny be able to keep her world together? Or will the bombs rip it apart? Follow Franny through the exciting ways through ours and her history. Will she make it?
*** Overall, the book was really good, but there were a bit too many 'ads' in between. I give this book a 8 out of 10!***
XTRA XTRA!
One of my favourite poems in the book:
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

Words in the Dust
Cow. Wall. Moon. Love. Army. Poetry. Wedding. Surgery. Loss. Hope. Ending. Beginning. What do these words mean? What do they all have in common? Zulaikha knows these words. She's tried them, studied them, and loved them each and all. As she goes along with her teacher and friend, Meena, she finds herself embracing a new Afghanistan. The Americans have come, bringing fear as well as hope. Zulaikha is brave, but will she be able to withstand the heartbreak coming? However, as her madar always said: Every triumph springs from patience!
This book was very good, but I have to say that it wasn't the best....
**I give this book a 8 out of 10!

Seekers: Spirits in the Stars
WARNING. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT READ THIS BOOK REVIEW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO READ THE SEEKERS SERIES DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS THE 6TH BOOK AND I MIGHT BE A SPOILER.
As they trek through frigid conditions on the ice, Toklo, Lusa, Kallik, and Ujurak are met with hunger, wild animals, other not-so-nice bears, and a lone cub that Kallik decides to mother. They are soon met with doubt, hurt, concern, and fate. For one of them, the journey ends here, in a desperate effort to save his friends. Which will it be? The ferocious yet careless Toklo, the small but jolly Lusa, with her constant weaving in an out of the deep sleep, Ujurak, whom the bears could not have made the journey without, or Kallik, the polar bear that takes care of the others while they are on the ice, hunting and digging dens for them, but steadfast determined. As their journey to bring back the spirits in the stars back to the isalnd (yes, now you see why it's named that way) comes to a slow end, they wonder: will this be the last time we see each other? Yet only time will bring an answer. Erin Hunter expertly weaves a tale to follow the footsteps of four, no three, bears with a brimming loyalty toward each other. Yet, through the toughest bonds of relationships, they fight with each other, especially over a small cub: Kissimi. Will Kissimi finally tear away the tough roots of three bears' friendship and take Kallik for his, or will Kallik finally listen to Toklo's reasoning and 'come back'? I won't spoil more the book for you: you must read on as the bears forged onto their way. Who will join the stars today?
*** I rate this book a 9.5 out of 10! This book will capture Warrior fans!***

Pandora Gets Heart
Yes. I like Greek Mythology, okay?
Meet Pandora, Alcie, Iole, and Homer on an evil- hunting chase. This time, their tracking down lust, which is hidden in the golden apple. You know the story: Paris has to decide which is the fairest: Athena, Aphrodite, or Hera. As they travel back and forth of time, they meet sorrow, hate, love, hope and, well, lust (duh). Why are they hunting down these evil things? You should know the story of Pandora- the girl which opens the jar, releasing all the evil in the jar, only to be left with hope. Read the other books: Pandora Gets Jealous, Pandora Gets Vain, and Pandora Gets Lazy. Whoo hoo! Does any of these seem like words that you would come across? Well, traveling back in time is great and everything, but comes with a few dangers, nothing much. It's just that if you make any drastic changes, you just might not be born! Nothing much, as I said... gulp! This exciting series will be sure to have you clinging onto your seat!
*** I rate this book a 9.8 out of 10! Whoope the best score yet! I would give it a ten, but alas, nothing perfect....
